The directory, which was last issued ten years ago, details 152 money advice outlets, local authorities and other money advice providers. MAS has been supported by TV Licensing in the publication of the directory, which is available free of charge to MAS members. A charge will be made to non-MAS members and other interested parties. The directory confirms that access to money advice is very limited, and that consumers very often have little or no choice in how and where they seek advice. Given the OFf’s initiative to raise awareness of over-indebtedness, the launch of the directory further highlights the plight of consumers who want to address their problems and who may have difficulty in accessing a service which suits their particular needs. 79 per cent of all outlets thought that a National Debtline for Directory Scotland would benefit people seeking advice for their debt problems.
